I'm using Windows. Here is what I've done since posting this. I've not checked balances or anything yet so I can't vouch for 100% but it appears to be mining without error. Read all the steps before doing anything. 1. Go to downloads.electroneum.com/2. If you have not already created a wallet use the 'Offline Wallet Generator' of your choice to create a wallet address. 3. Back on the downloads page, scroll down to the Direct Mining Software section. 4. Download the appropriate software for your OS to your computer you'll be using to mine and run 'electroneumd'. If you have any sort of malware scanner, etc. you will definitely need to create an exclusion before hand. I created one for the entire directory I unzipped to. 5. Once you start the electroniumd exe you will be announcing that you are a node and ready to mine to the rest of the world. It will take some time for your node to sync with the blockchain so be patient. Your network connection, machine specifications and network congestion will effect the time to sync. I left my laptop on overnight. It even tells you in the output "The daemon will start synchronizing with the network. This may take a long time to complete." My first timestampe was at 2018-01-11 00:52:41.155 and I issued the mining command (nxt step) at 2018-01-11 15:10:42.568. So it took awhile but not sure how long since I didn't sit in front of it. 6. So once synced you're ready to mine. Just start typing into the electroneumd window: start_mining <your wallet address> <number of threads>. I started with 12 but that was too much for my computer to handle. I dropped it down to 6 and it started working..though I've not tried to check any balance or anything yet. Good luck!

I had to install the Direct miner for windows. However it takes forever to sync and how do you determine the pool in which is mining? Or it is solo mining with no pool? A little confused about this. If its solo without a pool then how to check the balance?

If its solo without a pool then how to check the balance? direct mining is not so effective, use the pool miner

I use spacepools with this URL: stratum+tcp://pool.etn.spacepools.org:3333 so you could try any pool on your list but put "stratum+tcp://" in front of it and :xxxx after it (you should check their website for the port number)

I believe the Electroneum pool miner will soon be no longer supported along with their pools. You are probably better off finding a different miner and pool, as there are plenty of better ones out there. Check out this post for other options and instructions: electroneumtalk.proboards.com/post/5057/threadI would check out the one at minergate.com if you are looking for another GUI miner.
