Hey guys I did a little survey and gamers seem to have a negative feedback regarding transferable game currency:
* It encourages pay-to-win * Players who have played games for a long time have too much advantage in a new game using the same currency * It destroys the point and fun of starting to play a new game from scratch * It’s a game economy and balancing nightmare
I’d like to hear everyone’s thoughts especially from Richard if he comes online. Since Electroneum is targeted to gamers I think gamers’ feedback and how the company plans to bridge the solutions are important.

ETN should start with "easy" and not complex game like candy crush, angry birds etc. There is no game economy or pay to win there. From there, they will see how to adapt to other game. ETN should be used to buy aesthetic items only, at first. So there is no pay to win

I'm not a massive gamer, NBA live mobile is my game of choice. I can certainly see how people would be upset with encouraging pay to win, however it's already happening now in NBA live and surely other games as well.
The game companies are in it to make a profit, if they can make this a legitimate generic currency across the board then the game companies should be able to benefit more instead of the illegal/unofficial coin selling sites.
And I would suggest putting a spin on it to say that just from playing any game that uses ETN you can actually make some money from your time spent on the game.
NBA is about to reset for the new season (late, I know), and all our coins will disappear to start again. I would love to be able to cash in on all the effort I've put into the game.
Perhaps for starters they could look at letting people cash out their currency, but putting a cap on how much they can use to start a new game?

Most gamers are whiney lil bithces when it comes to anything related to their fan boi games. It doesnt matter what the situation is they will always know better. Give them the option to use this new system and they will love it. Always the whiney few that get all the face time. ... as no one seems to want to prays a dev team for a new system implimented. At the end of the day a game is just that... a game... and when i play something its MY game... the option to use this new system of payment or cashing out so to speak is my choice.. and i would rather the choice be there so i can decide rather than have a handful of cry babys worrying about pay to win. Thats the GAMES issue if they allow a system to be pay to win .... not the cashing out to electroneum or in game purchases problem.

Well, I never played a computer game in my life, unless you count a pre-installed chess game that I once had. But this excites me because of the much wider applications.
Talk today of whether Amazon will start to accept BTC, not heard the outcome yet, will they or won't they? If they don't do it now they might do it later... is that good or bad for ETN? Could make it harder for ETN as another coin will have been first to make that breakthrough. Off-topic but interesting.

yeah, i figured. For amazon to accept ETN it would have to be the number 1 coin on the market

Yes, if number one in market cap then BTC or nothing, but if number one in amount of users is taken into account maybe we'll be in with a chance one day.
Likewise can't see eBay accepting any time soon, would harm Paypal too much (unless it's done via Paypal with them still taking a commission).

The gamers you are speaking to are referring to a dying gaming model.
Pay to win is here to stay, whether they like it or not and regardless of electroneum's success or not.
You only have to look at the top grossing apps to see how successful the model is.
And the games that don't currently offer it... well they all have an easy to access black market, where you can buy everything for cash, even if it is against the EULA.
There is clearly a massive demand for this gaming model.

Indeed. Also if a game has ETN transactions from the start, the player base won't be affected by a change

You're dead wrong if you believe pay to win is the future demand of MMOS. No hardcore gamer wants a pay to win system. That's why the most succesful games are subscription fee based.

You hit the nail on the head - most hardcore gamers want subscription, but that is a small minority of gamers. Subscription used to have the most successful games, but not any more.
Yes a few games like World of Warcraft still maintain the subscription model, but that's the exception, not the norm anymore. Most new games are free to play with in game purchases. New releases that go for subscription soon end up going free to play too, because of lack of players.
Don't get me wrong I'm not a fan of pay to win at all, but I see it going that way and has been for a number of years. Look at mobile games like clash of clans, that probably had a 1000th of the world of war craft budget and yet it turned over 2 billion last year ( equal to World of Warcraft at its peak).
It's filtering through to most pc and console games, mmos are no exception..

Look at Path of exile. Millions of players and the game is free and you can only buy items to show off. Yet they make millions from their in game store. Ppl could spen 1000$ on a counter strike knife skin. No one is against it and it brings money. That's an easy target for ETN

World of Warcraft and other similar games always had those who for whatever reason, were leaving the game or building new characters. So they would sell their made characters. This is nothing new. HALO 5 has a new model where you buy upgrades, rather than the HALO 4 model where your performance and game loyalty enabled you to obtain upgrades. I play a few online games (mostly phone-based apps) where I don't typically buy upgrades, except when it is almost impossible to progress without doing so. If I had something like ETN where it is both real and virtual money, I would probably be more inclined to buy more upgrades or not feel as guilty for buying upgrades, because ETN will be able to be mined/replaced.
