I do not know about those but am using github.com/fireice-uk/xmr-stak-cpu fine on a laptop I am testing with Mint (Ubuntu).

If you are looking a source builds (I would as well as I can check the code) then this is the easiest I found and you can edit the source (i.e. if you want to decrease or increase the donation amount in donate.h).

And I am not a dev or admin, just a simple miner like yourself.
