I've been given a locked broom cupboard for a comms room with nothing more than your average bathroom extraction fan in the ceiling for ventilation. I need to drop into the rack a single server running windows for local AD and file services for around 1TB of data. I've only ever been an HP Proliant fan and I'd like to continue using them but I'm not familiar with the current gen units and worried it will chuck out too much heat and melt down. The last HP's in use were G7 units with full bays of spindle HDD's and redundant power supplies, they were noisy and hot. In addition there will be a router, NTU, UPS and a few switches in the rack along with all the patching, nothing fancy. Seeking some advice from you all on what makes and models I can look into to keep a passively cooled comms room at a reasonable temp. For more you can check case study examples
